WeChat ventures onto your desktop with new Mac app

The China-made messaging app that’s trying to chat up new users around the world, now has a Mac app as a complement to its mobile experience. The new WeChat Mac app is very simple – it just does basic messaging and file transfers – and is essentially a packaged version of the existing ‘Web WeChat’ which works in any browser.

Despite that, it’s still a nice-looking native Mac app that, thankfully, isn’t made using Adobe Air or any such horribleness. Like the web app version, you’ll have to login to the Mac app by scanning a QR code with your phone:WeChat ventures onto your desktop with new Mac appOnce inside, you can send text, photos, screenshots and basic emoticons – but not the huge stickers that apps like WeChat and Line are best known for.
